Conscious Play: Our Toy Favorites
Play is not just play, it’s how our children make sense of the world.
Whether you’re standing in a toy aisle, scrolling online, or trying to put together a birthday wish list, you’ve probably wondered:
“Is this actually worth it?”
What we look for in toys
These are the values we keep in mind when choosing toys for our own children. It’s not about perfection, but we do our best to choose options that feel safe, intentional, and developmentally supportive. If a toy checks most of these boxes, it usually makes the list.
- Safe, Non-Toxic Materials
Toys should never come with hidden toxins. We prefer items made from natural wood, organic fabrics, and non-toxic paints, so your little ones can safely mouth, chew, and explore. - Open-Ended Play
Good toys don’t overstimulate or direct the play. They invite your child to explore, imagine, and create, at their own pace and in their own way. Simple shapes, open-ended use, and space for curiosity. - Durable & Sustainable
We prefer toys that last through toddlerhood (and beyond). Think heirloom-quality wood over plastic that breaks. Fewer toys, better quality. - Developmentally Supportive
We match toys with your child’s natural stages: grasping, stacking, exploring cause & effect, pretend play.. all without rushing them into the next thing.
